Tree work is rarely the whole job. We handle the ground around it too: landscape design and installation, trimming and cleanup, forestry mulching, and site preparation for building or replanting. If a property has been left to go wild, we can bring it back and keep it that way - and either haul the debris off or mulch it on site, whichever suits you.

Why we do the ground as well

Tree work leaves a mark. A removal or a clearing job means machinery on turf, a stump hole, and an area that no longer looks like the rest of the property. Handing that back to a homeowner to sort out separately is how a good tree job ends up feeling unfinished.

So we take the ground with it: repairing and re-turfing where equipment ran, grading, planting, mulching, and putting the space back into a state you would actually want to look at.

Forestry mulching and site preparation

Forestry mulching grinds standing brush and small trees in place and leaves the material as a chip layer on the ground. On a Suncoast lot that has gone to jungle it is usually the fastest and least invasive way through, because nothing has to be dragged out and there is no burn pile.

The chip layer suppresses regrowth for a season and breaks down into the soil. It is the right finish for land you want to keep manageable, and the wrong one for land going straight to lawn or construction - for those we grub and grade to a clean surface instead. Tell us which you need at the quote, because it changes the method rather than just the tidying.

Overgrowth and invasives

Most of what we clear on established properties is not what the owner planted. Brazilian pepper, Australian pine and melaleuca colonise any Suncoast ground left alone for a few years, and they come back from stumps and seed if the clearing is not followed up.

Getting a property back is usually a two-stage job: clear it, then deal with the regrowth in the following season while it is still soft. Owners who plan for both stages keep the ground. Owners who do one dramatic clear-out are generally back where they started within three years.

Where a property needs more than tidying, we design and install - working with what is already there rather than starting from a blank sheet, because a mature tree worth keeping should drive the layout around it rather than the other way round.

Planting choices follow the same logic as tree installation: species that suit sandy, free-draining soil and salt air, sited for what they will become. On a waterfront property that also means knowing where the regulated ground starts, which is covered under mangrove work.

Plant choices follow the same logic as tree installation: species suited to sandy, sharply drained soil and salt air, sited for what they will become rather than the size they arrive at. Right plant, right place is not a slogan here - it is the difference between a bed that improves every year and one that gets replanted every other season.

On a waterfront property it also means knowing where the regulated ground starts, which is covered under mangrove work.

Grading, drainage and the things that decide whether planting survives

A large share of failed landscaping on this coast is a drainage problem wearing a plant's clothing.

Sandy soil drains fast almost everywhere, except where it does not: low spots, ground compacted by construction, areas beside a slab where fill was never properly graded. Water standing after rain kills more plants here than drought does, and it is invisible on a dry day.

We look at where water goes before we decide what goes in the ground, and where a bed needs the grade corrected first, we will say so rather than planting into a problem.

Property cleanup

Storm debris, a rental turnover, a closing, a property that has been let go while nobody was living in it - these are single-visit jobs that take a place from unmanageable back to presentable.

We assess and quote on what is actually there rather than from a description, because overgrowth is a volume problem and volume is very hard to judge remotely. Then we cut back, clear the beds, deal with the vines and the overgrowth, edge, and haul the material away.

Where the lawn has got badly away, it comes down over two visits a few days apart rather than in one pass. Taking that much leaf off a Florida lawn at once shocks it, exposes pale stem and can kill patches outright, and the result is a brown field rather than a lawn. It costs slightly more and it is the difference between a property that looks cared for and one that looks scalped.

Irrigation

We do not install irrigation systems, and we will tell you when one is the actual problem rather than the planting.

What we do is look at whether the existing system reaches what is being planted, and design beds that the system can genuinely water. A bed laid out where no head reaches is a bed that will be hand-watered for a month and then abandoned.

Where a zone is broken, badly aimed or running on a schedule that suits neither the season nor the local restrictions, we will point it out. It is one of the more common reasons planting fails on properties that have had money spent on them.

Timing

Cooler months are better for planting and for anything that needs to establish. Clearing and mulching are better on dry ground. Storm cleanup happens when it happens.

If your project has flexibility, planning it for the drier part of the year gets a better result and usually a better price.

What we will not take on

We are a tree and land company that finishes the ground properly, not a full-service landscape contractor.

Hardscape, irrigation installation, pool decks and structures are other trades, and we will tell you so rather than subbing them out badly. What we do is the ground around trees: clearing, grading, planting, mulching, turf repair and cleanup - and we do that to a standard that means the tree work does not look like it left a scar.
